How did AuroraCell begin?

Inspiration

It all begins with an idea, an idea to make a difference in the world. In the words of one of the most inspirational founders, Richard Branson who said in a recent interview:

“What is a business? A business is simply coming up with an idea to make other people’s lives better. If you can come up with an idea to make other people’s lives better then give it a go. Keep trying until you succeed. Get out and do it. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Venture every day.” So in the summer of 2024 I founded AuroraCell and have not looked back.

Personal motivation

The inspiration came after I saw two previously very fit and well people whom I was very close to fighting for their lives during the pandemic. Although I have witnessed people in vulnerable position due to illness through my work as a medical doctor, it was the personal experience that really spurred me on to pursue my start up with sheer determination to make it a success.

Clinical experience

My undergraduate degree in Medicine is from the University of Edinburgh. I worked as a doctor in the NHS for 5 years in a variety of specialities where I saw health from not only the perspective of a clinician but also that of the patient and the relative. Following this I completed two Masters degrees, in London. The second, for which I achieved Distinction, combined the discipline of life sciences with business strategy and set me on the path for pursuing entrepreneurship. The combination of my medical expertise together with my personal experience of healthcare means that I approach the translational research from the perspective of the patient and put the patient at the heart of all we do.
